All forms of public transport converge beneath the pedestrian mall of La Défense, a stone's throw from CNIT and Coeur Défense. For those coming by car, there are 25,000 parking spaces, including 4,000 in the immediate vicinity. Two motor ways have direct exits to La Défense. And there are taxi ranks and shuttles running from some of the hotels. Centrally located, La Défense is just 10 min from the Champs-Elysées, 30 min from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport and 40 min from Orly airport. By AirParis Roissy Charles de Gaulle AirportLocated 23 kilometres (14 miles) north-east of Paris, it is the city's largest airport and was one of the first airports in Europe to have an integrated train system serving it. The RER rapid TGV train service reaches central Paris in approximately 45 minutes. For more information about airport ground transportation at Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport, please visit paris-cdg.com. Orly AirportIn addition to handling the bulk of French domestic flights and much charter traffic it is still used by more than 30 airlines with medium and long haul schedules. Located south of the city, it has good public transport links but getting there by car involves sampling the joys of the notorious Paris "peripherique"always a test of nerve. Drivers would be advised to avoid peak time journeys if possible. If you do drive to the airport there is plenty of parking. Catch a train if you canOrly has its own rail station and is connected to both RER Lines B and C which take you to the heart of the city. For more information about Orly Airport, please visit www.airwise.com/airports/europe/ORY/ORY_01.html. By TrainParis has six major train stations, please visit www.paris.org/Gares/. If you are traveling by train, be sure you know at which station your train arrives or departs.
