Why should I present at LiveLinkUp?

LiveLinkUp is an ideal opportunity to meet Livelink users from around the world, share ideas, and connect with people who have solved business and technical problems similar to your own. By presenting a case study at LiveLinkUp, it provides you with the opportunity to showcase your solution and receive valuable feedback from your peers and Open Text staff.

Breakout session presenters save 50% on their conference fees. The conference discount for speakers is $750 (regular fee is $1500). In addition, speakers will receive a complimentary copy of the conference proceedings CD-ROM.

Please note: Only one conference fee per organization per session qualifies for the discounted rate.

How do I become a speaker?

Speaker Applications are no longer being accepted. The submission deadline was
August 15, 2003.

If you have already submitted an Application form, you will receive an email acknowledging the receipt of your application. An Open Text representative will contact you within 10 business days to complete the remainder of your application.

What should I present?

The topic of your presentation must fit into at least one of the conference tracks. These tracks include:

Technology:
Collaboration - these sessions focus on collaboration technologies and collaborative applications. Topics that fit in the category are MeetingZone™, Livelink for Collaboration, project collaboration and RFP preparation.
Business Process Management - the sessions under this track highlight the automation-of or improvement-of business processes using technologies like Workflows, forms, task lists etc. and can include engineering change management or vacation request processing.
Knowledge Management - this track looks at issues relating to information retrieval, information re-use, training and skills management, communities of practice and best practice sharing. Technologies that fit into this track are search, categorization and eLearning.
Content Management - these sessions focus on the management of different types of content, such as, records management, web content management and document management. The business applications that fit are standard operating procedure publishing, records management, shared drive replacement and web site publishing.
Application Integration - this track focuses on integrating products to exchange data and/or to facilitate deployment and eliminate data redundancy. Topics include: web services, Doorways™, UNITE anywhere and UNITE, portal implementations and the integration of systems.
Deployment:
Technology deployment - these sessions focus on the technology issues around successful deployment. The topics that are of interest include scaling and sizing, maintenance, monitoring, performance and administration. Customer sessions would highlight experiences that deal with these technology issues.
Adoption - the sessions that fit this track promote ways to encourage users to embrace their Livelink system. Topics include: change management, executive sponsorship, training, usability etc.
Best practices -this track highlights best practices for successful deployment and include experiences that cover aspects of technology and adoption.
Compliance - these sessions focus on corporate governance, accounting, and regulatory issues. Topics include compliance to standards such as ISO9000 and the US Food and Drug Administration's 21 CFR Part 11 rules, Sarbanes-Oxley and the USA Patriot Act.

What is the session format?

Each breakout session is 45-minutes in length. Please allow enough time for a Q & A at the end of your session.

There is a 15-minute break in between sessions that is designed to enable presenters to set up the room and equipment according to their needs.

We suggest that you structure your presentation in the following manner:
Introduction of participating speakers and companies
Overview of the presentation
Core presentation
Summary of main points
Questions and answers

All presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint or Adobe Acrobat format and include speaker notes for each slide. We encourage you to use your own corporate template and use graphical content where appropriate including screen shots from your application. Presentations delivered at our North American conferences must be in English.

How are sessions chosen?

An Open Text committee selects approximately 30 case studies, based on the quality of the submission, the relevance of application and/or technology, the maturity of the Livelink solution.

How will I be notified?

You will be contacted email within 10 business days of you submitting your application. At that time you will find out if your application has been accepted and what else needs to be done to complete the application process.

Do I register for the conference?

Yes, after your application has been accepted, you must register for the conference.

In order to receive the discounted conference fee you must register with a special registration code. This code is sent to you by email after your application has been accepted. If this code is not used when you complete the registration form, your registration fee will not be discounted and you will be billed at current conference rates.

Can I choose the date and time of my session?

Open Text determines the date, time, and room location for all breakout sessions. If you have a date or time constraint for your presentation, please let us know as soon as possible.

No changes to dates or times will be made after September 12, 2003.

What equipment is available in each breakout room?

All breakout rooms are arranged in theater style and are equipped with a screen, projector, podium, microphone and flipchart.

Only a few rooms will have access to the internet. If you require an internet connection during your presentation, please select Yes for Question #7 on the Speaker Application Form.

Please note: Presentations with 'virtual presenters' using a speakerphone are not recommended. The sound from the speakerphone is not loud or clear enough to be heard throughout the room.

Is there a presentation template?

All presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint or Adobe Acrobat format. We encourage you to use your own corporate template and use graphical content where appropriate including screen shots from your application. Please include speaker notes for each slide.

Do I need handouts for my presentation?

If you wish, you can distribute handouts as part of your presentation. All printing and shipping costs are your responsibility for any handouts that you provide.

You do not need to provide copies of your slides to the attendees, since all presentations will be published in the conference proceedings.

What are conference proceedings?

The conference proceedings are an excellent reference from the conference. You can review the presentations that you attended, and have a chance to learn more about the ones you missed. Each presentation is included on the CD-ROM and in the hard copy, full-color book. Conference proceedings ($695 USD) can be ordered as part of your registration or from our Web site.

I have confidential information in my presentation. How should I present my slides?

For sensitive or confidential information that should not be published in the conference proceedings, you have the option of providing us with a revised version of your presentation for publication.

For sessions that absolutely cannot be printed or video-taped, please cross out the appropriate sections of the Speaker Agreement (PDF), initial the changes, and fax it to

I am an Open Text Partner. Do I qualify as a presenter?

Open Text Affinity Partners are invited to submit a proposal for a breakout sessions. To qualify, your company must:
Be a partner in "good standing" with Open Text. (To check your status as a partner, please contact your Affinity Account Manager),
Be an Exhibitor or Sponsor at the conference,
Present a case study based on a customer success story. The customer must present or co-present the session with you. One person from the customer organization presenting a breakout session is eligible for the speaker discount. Any breakout session based solely on product or services presentations or demonstrations will not be accepted.
The number of Partner sessions is limited to 10 presentations. Open Text will select these 10 sessions based on the quality of the submission, the relevance of application and/or technology, the maturity of the customer solution, and space availability. Open Text will notify Partners of the status of their submissions by August 15, 2003.

I am a consultant/contractor for a Livelink customer. Can I present a breakout session?

System integrators, consulting firms and sub-contractors may present a case study based on a customer success story. The customer must present or co-present the session with you. One person from the customer organization presenting a breakout session is eligible for the speaker discount. Any breakout session based solely on product or services presentations or demonstrations will not be accepted.
