A special event for Open Text customers using the BASIS and/or Techlib products.


LiveLinkUp Orlando 2003 provides a unique opportunity for customers, partners, and employees who work with BASIS and Techlib to Make Ideas Thrive and Knowledge Work. Product champions from across North America will be on hand to share their experiences to give you new ideas on how BASIS can manage knowledge assets, support compliance initiatives and make your organization more efficient.

You will hear from experts that use BASIS or Techlib to manage research archives, industry standards, online information services, litigation, radio and television program archives, publishing and library collections

BASIS Day will feature an interactive environment where customers and Open Text product specialists will have the opportunity to discuss technical issues and solutions to common business problems. Open Text executives and technical experts will be available to participate in the Product Forum and during the evening gatherings. Representatives from all departments from Customer Support, Marketing and Sales, to Product Management and Product Development look forward to discussing various aspects of your experience with BASIS.

An overview of BASIS and Techlib product strategy, and product development projects underway. Focus will be on the expanded capabilities planned for BASIS V10, including the BASIS Webtop Administrator module.

A sneak preview of some BASIS and Techlib features plus a more in depth look at the BASIS Webtop Administrator that will be delivered to all customers with the BASIS server.

  11:15am    Using BASIS Thesaurus Manager and BASIS WebtopTM for Taxonomy and More

The BASIS Thesaurus Manager is often used to enhance data entry and retrieval and to maintain corporate taxonomy. It can also be employed to do other text manipulations: clean up field contents, provide eye-readable information for codes, and automatically add administrative information. BASIS WebtopTM capabilities help verify automated thesaurus loads and provide an easy way to add and edit thesauri. This session will discuss employing BASIS Thesaurus Manager, REVL and WebtopTM to find, create, validate, and maintain metadata.

  1:00pm    Customizing BASIS Webtop (and BASIS Webtop OPAC)
Tips and tricks for customizing BASIS Webtop. This session will cover customization pitfalls and how to keep your JSPs in peak performance. We will cover the most frequently asked support questions about customizing Webtop. Bring your hard-hitting technical questions, as we will allocate part of the session to open forum.
  1:45pm    Using Webtop to Integrate Multiple BASIS Applications
Andre E. Russo, International Finance Corporation
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) Legal Department has been using BASIS to store and manage their document and file collections for 14 years. Recently, Webtop was introduced to develop a Project Database Application to provide access to all of the main legal documents of the Corporation. In this session we will discuss the development of this application, as well as its value to the IFC.

  2:30pm    Using LDAP with BASIS
An LDAP repository can be used as the authentication mechanism for accessing BASIS via Webtop. The session will examine methods of obtaining LDAP attributes and using them to log in to BASIS. There will also be a brief discussion of opportunities in V10 for using OpenAPI to update the authority database.
  3:15pm    BASIS and Techlib Product Forum and Future Direction Roundtable
This is an opportunity for BASIS and Techlib customers to express their preferences for product enhancements, discuss general product issues, and ask questions of product management, product development and customer support.
