Jack Welch
Former CEO of General Electric and Author of the best-selling book JACK: Straight From The Gut

In 1960, Mr. Welch joined GE as a chemical engineer for its Plastics division in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He was elected the company's youngest Vice President in 1972 and was named Vice Chairman in 1979. In December 1980 it was announced that he would succeed Reginald H. Jones and in April 1981 he became the eighth Chairman and CEO in the Company's 121-year history. Mr. Welch retired as Chairman and CEO of General Electric in September 2001.

In September 2001, Mr. Welch published his autobiography, JACK: Straight From The Gut. The book quickly jumped to the #1 spot on bestseller lists.

In addition to his new role as author, Mr. Welch serves as a consultant to a small group of Fortune 500 business CEOs.

Jim Balsillie
Chairman and Co-CEO, Research in Motion Limited

Mr. Balsillie has been the Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of RIM since 1992. He is responsible for directing strategy, business development, and finance.

RIM is best known for the BlackBerry handheld which has been honoured with awards such as:

  • The Red Herring 100 (2001);
  • InfoWorld Magazine's Product of the Year Award in the Mobile Computing Category for Blackberry (2000);
  • PC World's World Class Award, naming BlackBerry the Best Wireless Communication Device (2000);
  • Profit 100 Award for 2000;
  • Smithsonian Award: ComputerWorld (1999), which includes the acceptance of the RIM Inter@ctive Pager 950 into the Smithsonian Institution's Permanent Research Collection of Information Technology, the world's premier history record of computing applications and innovations.

Jim is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate of the University of Toronto and of Harvard University.

Guenther Klementz
Corporate Knowledge Officer, Siemens AG

Guenther Klementz, head of the Corporate Information and Operations department Knowledge Management (Corporate Knowledge Officer) at Siemens AG, is responsible for the development and rollout of a Corporate Knowledge Management Roadmap as well as for the promotion and coordination of Knowledge Management activities at Siemens.

He studied computer sciences and economics at the Technical University of Munich. From 1980 on he worked as a member of the German National Research Center for Environment and Health to introduce modern information technologies in the field of medical research. In 1985 Guenther Klementz joined Nixdorf Computer AG as senior software engineer to develop an object-oriented software engineering environment. In 1990 he entered Siemens with the mandate to form a consulting unit in the Siemens Business Services group. In 1999 he was appointed head of the "Corporate Knowledge Management" at Siemens AG.

Ken Olisa
Founder, Chairman & CEO, Interregnum

Ken's career began with IBM, which he joined after graduating from Cambridge University. At IBM he held various posts in systems engineering, sales and marketing, before joining Wang Laboratories in 1981.

Following a period as Marketing Director for Europe, Vice President of US Marketing and then Worldwide Marketing, Ken was appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wang Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Here he was responsible for the sales, marketing, support, service and administration activities within 11 Wang subsidiaries and 92 distributors. His achievements included the reversal of the half billion dollar loss-making European business through a major restructuring.

Ken founded Interregnum in 1992. His current appointments include Chairman of Metapraxis Ltd, and Datapoint Group, and he serves on the Board of Open Text Corporation of Canada, Link Software in Brussels and several other IT companies. He is also a Freeman of the City of London; Postal Services Commissioner; a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists; Chairman of Thames Reach, a charity working to shelter and resettle the homeless in London; and a Governor of the Peabody Trust.

Hubert Saint-Onge
Senior Vice President, Clarica

Mr. Saint-Onge has developed and implemented knowledge management strategies for large corporations for more than 20 years. By helping businesses such as Clarica, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Shell Canada realize the full potential of their human assets, Saint-Onge is widely recognized as an authority on the management of intellectual capital.

Hubert will explore "Transforming the Organization with Knowledge and Technology" from his unique hands-on business perspective.

Mr. Saint-Onge is currently senior vice president, strategic capabilities for Clarica, one of Canada's largest insurance and financial services providers.
