Events

Visit the Flea Market of Paris

Located at the ancient gates of the city, Porte de Vanves and Saint-Ouen, the famous flea markets of Paris will have what you want, even if you don't know what you are looking for.

Watch the Sunset from the Eiffel Tower

Constructed for the 1889 Paris Fair, "Le Tour Eiffel" was built to celebrate the Revolution's centenary and the revitalization of France after the defeat by Prussia in 1870. This 1000 ft high edifice is made of intricate iron filigree, supported by four insubstantial-looking "claws". It was erected in two years, welded together with 2,500,000 rivets and built, amazingly, without a single fatal accident.

View the Impressionist Collection at the Musée d'Orsay

Housed in the "Gare d'Orsay", formerly a railway station, designed by the architect Victor Laloux and hastily built for the World Fair in 1900, this major Impressionist collection opened as a museum in 1986. Here, under one large roof, are gathered samples of all the various schools of painting and sculpture, from 1848 to 1910. Highlights include, the greatest works of Gustave Courbet, Manet, Renoir, Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, Cézanne, Georges Seurat, Odilon Redon, Toulouse-Lautrec, Gauguin and also a magnificent array of furniture, architectural exhibits, decorative arts and photography. Lunch at the museum's excellent Café des Hauteurs.

Shop Haute Couture in St-Germain-des-Prés

A deluxe itinerary focused on the big name boutiques and collections (Dior, Chanel, Ungaro, Nina Ricci, Valentino etc), all located in the refined area of St-Germain-des-Prés—a shoppers' paradise, with its myriad tiny galleries, antiques dealers, chic interior design shops and fashion boutiques.

See the Sights of Paris

Île de la Cité, the Conciergerie, Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Ste-Chapelle concluding with a boat trip along the Seine—The history of this small, boat-shaped island in the Seine is the history of Paris. Here in around 300 BC, the earliest inhabitants of Paris (the Parisii tribe) settled, and it was here two centuries later that the Romans built the town of Lutetia, meaning, "settlement surrounded by water". This location was to become the seat of the ancient kings of France and the center of political power, and in medieval times, it also became the home of the church and the law. Key sights include the Cathedral de Notre-Dame, Ste-Chapelle and the Conciergerie. Conclude this trip with a boat trip along the Seine and enjoy the sights of the remnants of the Napoleonic era and the Industrial Revolution as well as much more recent buildings.

Learn the Art of French Cuisine

In the morning guests will be met by a chef and accompanied to the local picturesque market. They will then be given a cookery lesson in the cooking school, where they will make a traditional lunch of three courses, complimented with suitable local wines. After luncheon they will be taken on an eclectic itinerary to discover the favorite addresses on the left bank for fashion, gourmet and antiques.

Tour the Musée du Louvre

The centuries-old Musée du Louvre contains one of the largest, most important art collections in the world. Star attractions include: Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Théodore Géricault's moving shipwreck, The Raft of the Medusa and The Lacemaker by Jan Vermeer, as well as sculptures; Michelangelo's Dying Slave, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the wild Marly Horses by Guillaume Coustou and the Venus de Milo.
