Don Tapscott
Adjunct Professor, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto

Don Tapscott is an internationally sought speaker and authority on business strategy, specializing on the impact of information and communication technologies on business and society. The Washington Technology Report says he is one of the most influential media authorities since Marshall McLuhan.

Tapscott has authored or co-authored nine widely read books on the application of technology in business. His newest book, co-authored with David Ticoll and Alex Lowy, is Digital Capital: Harnessing the Power of Business Webs. This bestseller describes how business webs are replacing the traditional model of the firm and changing the dynamics of wealth creation and competition.

Ken Hill
VP Information Technology, General Dynamics

Ken has been VP Information Technology (CIO) for General Dynamics since 1997. Prior to that he was the Staff VP Personnel for General Dynamics. Ken has been with General Dynamics since 1969 and has spent over half his career in the management and development of IT for General Dynamics. Prior to joining the corporate staff in 1980 he spent 3 years with the Data Systems Division (the forerunner of CSC TMG), as well as the Convair and Electronics divisions of General Dynamics.

Guenther Klementz
Corporate Knowledge Officer, Siemens AG

Guenther Klementz, head of the Corporate Information and Operations department Knowledge Management (Corporate Knowledge Officer) at Siemens AG, is responsible for the development and rollout of a Corporate Knowledge Management Roadmap as well as for the promotion and coordination of Knowledge Management activities at Siemens.

In 1985 Guenther Klementz joined Nixdorf Computer AG as senior software engineer to develop an object-oriented software engineering environment. In 1990 he entered Siemens with the mandate to form a consulting unit in the Siemens Business Services group. In 1999 he was appointed head of the "Corporate Knowledge Management" at Siemens AG.

Hubert Saint-Onge
Chief Executive Officer, Konverge Digital Solutions Inc.

For over a decade, Hubert Saint-Onge has been refining a model known as the Knowledge Assets Framework for the strategic integration of business plans with people management systems, using technology architecture and organizational infrastructure.

Hubert Saint-Onge is a respected advisor to Fortune 500 companies and is widely recognized as a leading practitioner in the field of knowledge management. Formerly Senior Vice-President of Strategic Capabilities at Clarica Life Insurance Company and Vice-President, Learning Organization and Leadership Development for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Mr. Saint-Onge has been lauded in the international community for his innovative thinking and leadership skills. Mr. Saint-Onge is currently Executive in Residence in the Centre for Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (CBET) at the University of Waterloo.

Kathy Obert
Deputy CIO for Enterprise Transformation and Applications, Naval Sea Systems Command

Kathy came to the CIO office in October 2001 to work on the Navy’s Task Force Web project at NAVSEA. Prior to that she had been a Deputy Assistant Program Manager in the new aircraft carrier construction program office. In February of 2002, Kathy took over as the Deputy CIO of the Enterprise Transformation Branch and in May 2002 she took on the additional duty of being the DCIO for Enterprise Applications. Since this time, Kathy’s focus has been on consolidating the Application Management branch with the Transformation branch and reducing the overall cost of doing business while improving customer support across NAVSEA. She has also begun to develop a strategy for a solid enterprise architecture strategy at NAVSEA that will lay the foundation for future IT/IM initiatives at NAVSEA.

Lou Latham
Gartner Research Analyst

Lou Latham is an analyst with Gartner Inc. and is part of Gartner's Internet and Media group, which writes research on collaboration, media technologies, content and document management, Web Services, portals and search engines, and other e-workplace and digital media technologies and processes.

Mr. Latham's research includes "The 2002 Web Content Management Magic Quadrant" published on August 6th 2002 with his colleague Mark Gilbert. And, as part of the Gartner team exploring enterprise suites, Mr. Latham helped to identify an emerging market that Gartner has named Smart Enterprise Suites. In May 2002, this team of Gartner analysts detailed the Smart Enterprise Suites in two research reports entitled, The First Wave of Smart Enterprise Suites and The Smart Enterprise Suite is Coming, Do We Need It?

Bipin Junnarkar
Data & Knowledge Management, Hewlett-Packard Company

Bipin Junnarkar leads the Data & Knowledge Management efforts in the new HP. Bipin Junnarkar joined HP in July 2001 as Vice President, Business Process Transformation, to lead the horizontal business process initiative sponsored by HP's CEO and Executive Council. Bipin took over additional responsibilities as Vice President, IT Planning, Finance and Functional Operations, in January 2002. Bipin is a leading authority in the practice of Knowledge Management.

Associate Principal, New York Office, McKinsey and Company

Pradip Patiath is an Associate Principal in the New York Office of McKinsey & Company and a leader of the Firm's Knowledge Strategy and Operations practice, which oversees McKinsey's knowledge-related activities and serves clients on knowledge management issues. His recent client engagements have included defining an integrated knowledge management program for diversified financial services company and designing a comprehensive knowledge strategy, supporting processes and systems for a leading North American Foundation.

 

 

Scott Shaffar
Knowledge Management Program Manager, Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems

Dr. Shaffar is currently responsible for leading the design and implementation of a Knowledge Management program throughout Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector.

Dr. Shaffar is a member of Northrop Grumman's Corporate Knowledge Management Council, The Conference Board's Learning and Knowledge Management Council, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His accomplishments in Knowledge Management have been recognized in Aviation Week & Space Technology, Knowledge Management Magazine, PC Magazine, Information Week, and CIO Magazine.

Thomas McCabe Kelly
Vice President, Internet Learning Solutions Group, Cisco Systems, Inc.

Tom's primary responsibilities are to provide product and technology training to Cisco's direct sales force, grow the number of skilled and certified networking professionals, and to drive and evangelize the best practices associated with e-learning technologies.

Appointed to his current position in December 1997, Tom launched the Cisco Career Certification Program in April 1998, resulting in the certification of over 390,000 Cisco certified professionals as of January 2002. In 1999 he established the Field E-learning Connection, a specialized Web site for sales engineers and account managers, which offers 80% of the training needed by the field and has over 22,000 employee subscribers. Other initiatives included the launch of Cisco's e-learning Web site, aimed at evangelizing the next major Internet trends and applications; co-sponsoring of the global video-on-demand pilot and deployment; and implementation of virtual classroom technology for meetings and training. The training business at Cisco is expected to generate $500 million in fiscal 2002, educating over 200,000 students through the 140 training partners around the world.

Tom has more than 20 years of experience in the education and training industry, holding positions at Oracle Corporation, Sun Microsystems, NeXT Corporation and Control Data Corporation. He sits on the boards of several companies including KnowledgeNet, Intellinex, and 401Konnect. Mr. Kelly is an active member of the Computer Education Managers Association, and the Chief Learning Officer Xchange. Tom earned B.S. and M.B.A. degrees in Business Management from Saint Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
