Digital Asset Management
Meet The Boss TV

Time Warner Book Group Success Story

With its rich history and vast holdings, Time Warner Book Group looked to digital asset management as a solution to support its publishing, marketing and new media activities.

Challenge
Time Warner Book Group required a solution to enhance its organizational efficiencies by enabling it to find and retrieve assets more quickly and easily. The solution also had to simplify the packaging of promotional materials for distribution to its internal Web sites and external eTailers. The company's approach was to break its books into their digital components and establish a common metadata standard to allow asset sharing across the company.

Solution

Value
Time Warner Book Group was able to bring formerly outsourced processes, such as eBook production, in house. As well, the asset management solution enabled its sales force to create presentations in the field tailored to their customers. For Time Warner Book Group, the benefits of establishing such a centralized repository include the elimination of redundancies and islands of information; the ability to repurpose core information; major efficiency gains in the distribution of content and marketing materials to online and brick and mortar trading partners; a vast reduction in hardcopy circulation, photocopying, large email attachments and scanning; and reduced time spent distributing and accessing online assets.

About the Organization
Time Inc. is a home to the Time Warner Book Group, consisting of Warner Books, and Little, Brown and Company. Other major imprints include Bulfinch Press, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and Warner Faith. The Book Group offers readers an impressive list of entertainment, best-selling literature and informative non-fiction. TWBG also distributes publishing lines for Hyperion, Arcade, Disney, Harry Abrams, Time Inc. Home Entertainment, DC Comics and Microsoft.
