PayStream Advisors Release Imaging and Workflow Automation Report about Open Text Solutions

PayStream Advisors is a technology research and consulting firm that assists clients with evaluations of accounts payable solutions. As part of their recent Imaging and Workflow Automation (IWA) report, they generated a profile of Open Text with a focus on our Accounts Payable (AP) extensions for SAP and Oracle software.

In their profile of Open Text’s AP extensions for Oracle, PayStream Advisors stated, “We especially liked the way escalation rules, away rules, and straight-through-processing rules have been implemented, delivering out-of-the-box, pre-programmed business processes that can be customized.”

While the article is focused on AP solutions, PayStream Advisors also stated, “Open Text is a global leader in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) space, offering a comprehensive suite of solutions that enable its clients to manage and leverage their business content.” This comment highlights the fact that the Open Text’s AP solutions are much more than just a point solution, but are instead part of a strategic content management solution that spans the enterprise.

Open Text’s Accounts Payable for Oracle – Administrative Java Single Sign-On

In the Open Text Accounts Payable for Oracle solution, the SOA components (i.e. BPEL, Application Server, ESB, etc.) use individual user accounts to access the applications.  These specific application accounts can be problematic to remember and there are a number of  bugs in the BPEL Console application that display an erroneous security error when redirecting to the Open Text Accounts Payable Domain.   As an alternative, the OC4J 10.1.3.1 implementation supplies Java SSO, which is packaged with OC4J itself and decouples OC4J from whatever identity server you want to use. This allows applications deployed in the same OC4J instance or cluster to have a single point of authentication and the ability to share user identities.

OC4J Java SSO can be used with any security provider supported by OracleAS JAAS Provider. Furthermore, any login module (including custom ones) that conforms to certain requirements can be used in conjunction with Java SSO.  Configuring OC4J’s Java SSO can make administration of the Open Text Accounts Payable solution easier and more user-friendly to maintain.  The following link is Oracle documentation that explains how to do this for your environment.

Open Text’s Kofax Release Script for Content Server (Livelink) Patch for .Net Web Services

A new patch is available for Open Text’s Kofax Release Script for Content Server 8.1 (formerly known as Kofax Release Script for Livelink 8.1) that allows document release to Microsoft .Net Web services.  Previously, when configuring a capture release from the Administration tool, the user was not able to map fields to a .Net web service WSDL.  The patch supports both Java and .Net based web services now.  Please contact Customer Support to get the latest patch if you are experiencing this problem.
