Vista - Scalability Configuration Options
Scalability refers to Vista Plus’s ability to maintain good performance and reliability as the number of connected users and captured reports increases, without adversely affecting other applications. Correctly setting certain configuration options—during installation, in the server.cfg file, or in the warehouse configuration—can help ensure the best performance in your installation, and can minimize the network and server resources Vista Plus uses. There are two areas you can configure that affect scalability: the way in which connections between clients and the Vista Plus server are handled and how many server processes may run at one time.

Vista – Migrating Report Generations
The Vista Plus migration processes (VMIdentify and VMTransport) move report generations from online disk volumes to offline disks or tapes. This is a detailed description of how this process is done, the file naming conventions used when storing generation files on an offline volume, and temporary files and directories VMTransport creates and uses. Migrating report generations from online to offline is a two-step process. First you run VMIdentify to identify the report generations to be archived, compressed, backed up, or deleted and then you run VMTransport, which actually removes the file(s) for the generation from the online volume and writes the generation on the offline volume or device. On a UNIX host, this can be any device; on a Windows host, it can be any mapped drive letter.
