Performance Assessment: Livelink ECM – Enterprise Server on ESX(i) VMware

This document explores the performance impact with virtualization of Livelink ECM – Enterprise Server (LES) using ESX(i) VMware™. The goal is to get an idea of the performance impact that virtualization would have on LES and how different it is from that under a native bare-metal server.

The tests are divided into two main types: a load test, to observe the performance of the software under anticipated peak usage; and a stress test, to observe the performance of the software under saturation.

Tests were carried out on a single LES instance front-end on both ESX(i) VMware and bare-metal set-ups under a varying load to understand the behavior of the system. The same LES Admin Server and DB Server were used during each test.

What Developers and Integrators Should Know About Content Server Reserved Object and Node Ranges

Information regarding Content Server’s (formerly Livelink ECM - Enterprise Server) Software Development Kit (SDK) and the reserved object and node ranges have been updated and affects both Developers and Integrators including:
  • Open Text Development
  • Partners and Open Text Global Services
  • Customers

Adherence to these published reserved range values while creating new modules or customizations with the SDK Builder will minimize or eliminate the possibility of conflicts arising when modules are installed to the same system.

Integrators working with the API or Enterprise Web Services should also adhere to using the published reserved range values where applicable.

The above published information supersedes all previous information and specifications regarding the use of reserved object or node ranges with Content Server and Livelink ECM -- Enterprise Server (LES).

Application Note: Reserved and Assigned Ranges for Content Server Developers can be found at:
