Canada 3.0 – Defining Canada’s Digital Future

On June 8-9, government, business and academic leaders met at the inaugural Canada 3.0 Forum which took place at the University of Waterloo’s Stratford Institute. The purpose of the forum was to develop a national digital media action plan to ensure Canada can not only compete, but also lead the world in the new digital economy.

The digital media sector globally is one of the fastest growing industries in the knowledge economy with a forecast of double-digit growth rates over the next five years and is expected to reach US $2 trillion, according to research firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. Canada has an opportunity to provide an enormous boost for the organizations and businesses that work in the digital space and that seek to create companies, jobs, products and services tied to both the digital economy and to Canada. This opportunity is a major factor driving the forum itself and Open Text’s support of the event as title sponsor.
